Danna Paola has renewed her recording contract with Universal Music Group and signed a global joint co-management agreement with GTS and Icon Management, Billboard can exclusively reveal.
The contract renewal will continue the growth, artistic devotion and international projection of the Mexican singer and actress. GTS and ICON Management will join forces in Danna’s co-management and co-booking, to continue to build on the momentum of her artistic career worldwide.
“In this industry, having been a successful child actress and singer and then continuing on to your twenties with even greater success is a complex and difficult endeavor so if throughout this journey you continue believing in your team and demonstrating loyalty and trust in Universal Music, we can only say thank you, Danna, for so many years of unwavering loyalty,” Jesús López, chairman & CEO Universal Latin Music Entertainment & Iberian Peninsula, said in a statement. “Count on us for all of your dreams to come true, it is a pleasure to continue this journey by your side.”
Danna kicked off her career in the late ’90s as a child actress, landing her first major lead role in the children’s telenovela Maria Belén (2001). That same year, she launched her debut album, Mi Globo Azul. With a music and film career that spans more than two decades, Danna is also known for her role as Lucrecia “Lu” Montesinos Hendrich in the 2018 Spanish Netflix series Élite.
“I am very excited and happy to be able to merge my vision, my music, and my projects alongside a wonderful team that is growing today,” the 25-year-old artist said. “I have been signed with UMG for many years and today we renew our commitment because I know that the best is yet to come. I’m certain this will mark a huge leap in my career. Infinite thanks to my team at UMG, ICON, and now GTS for trusting and believing in me so much.”
A true powerhouse with fresh pop fusions and empowering lyrics, Danna’s biggest hits include “Mala Fama,” “Oye Pablo,” the Sebastian Yatra-assisted “No Bailes Sola,” and her recent single “Friend De Semana,” in collaboration with Aitana and Luísa Sonza. This year, Danna Paola nabbed the award for best North artist at the 2020 MTV EMAs, in addition to other recognitions.
