Gather near to Kelly Clarkson and her band Y’all for one more “Kellyoke” to cap the week with their rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”
Christmas trees dotted the Kelly Clarkson Christmas wonderland on Friday (Dec. 11), while boughs of holly appeared on the show’s virtual panels, which were each rocking Santa caps.
The Grammy-winning singer kicked it up a notch when she sang, “Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.” That line, evidently enough, was not featured in Judy Garland’s original song from the 1944 musical film Meet Me in St. Louis. One of the original songwriters, Hugh Martin, revised the jingle when Frank Sinatra asked for a cheerier lyric in his version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” from his 1957 holiday album A Jolly Christmas, instead of “Until then we’ll have to muddle through somehow.”
