Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” returned to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart this week, rising from No. 2.
The chanteuse was surprised at her festive accomplishment, taking to Twitter on Monday (Dec. 14) to share, “I truly wasn’t expecting this at all!!”
“Eternally grateful for the enduring success of this song,” she continued, before referencing her own lyrics with a 2020 twist. “‘I don’t want a lot for Christmas…’ just wishing for a bit more JOY and some holiday spirit for all, especially this year. Merry Christmas!”
The song, first released on Carey’s 1994 album Merry Christmas, first reigned for three weeks last holiday season. Its now-fourth total week atop the Hot 100 ties for the most time at No. 1 among holiday hits in the chart’s 62-year history.
