Chris Lane achieves his third No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart as “Big, Big Plans” ascends 2-1 on the Dec. 19-dated list. The song, released on Big Loud Records, increased by 10% to 33 million audience impressions in the week ending Dec. 13, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.
Lane logs his first Country Airplay No. 1 as a writer, having penned the song with Jacob Durrett and Ernest K. Smith.
“When we wrote ‘Big, Big Plans,’ I had no idea it would end up on the radio, let alone as a No. 1 song,” Lane tells Billboard. “I’m so thankful to the fans for embracing what was such a personal song for me and making it their own. I’m thankful to country radio for playing it and my team for working so hard to make sure it was heard. This one feels extra special since it’s my first No. 1 as a songwriter. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
Lane previously led Country Airplay with “I Don’t Know About You” in October 2019 and “Fix” in August 2017. He boasts two additional top 10s: “Take Back Home Girl,” featuring Tori Kelly (No. 8, 2018), and “For Her” (No. 10, 2017).
Meanwhile, “Big, Big Plans” reaches the Country Airplay pinnacle in its 55th week on the list, capping the fourth-longest trip to No. 1, all logged this year. Travis Denning’s “After a Few” took 65 weeks to lead on June 13, followed by Scotty McCreery’s “In Between” (63 weeks; June 27) and Jimmie Allen’s “Make Me Want To” (58 weeks; March 7).
DOING EVEN ‘BETTER’ Luke Combs earns his 10th Country Airplay top 10 as “Better Together” lifts 11-8 (19.6 million, up 6%). His previous nine top 10s all hit No. 1, a record career-opening streak for proper singles, with, most recently, “Lovin’ on You” having led for four weeks in September.
CHEERS Plus, Lady A adds its 15th Country Airplay top 10 as “Champagne Night” bumps 12-9 (19.5 million, up 8%). The trio last visited the tier with “What If I Never Get Over You,” which became its 10th No. 1 in January.
