Selena: The Series is already available on Netflix, starring Christian Serratos as the late Mexican-American singer and executive produced by the Quintanilla family, and its new soundtrack went straight to the top 10 on the Latin Pop Albums chart.
“Playing Selena was so surreal for me and it hit close to home because I had so much respect for her,” Serratos previously told Billboard. “A lot of the time I found myself very emotional and having to hold back those emotions, especially when I sang ‘No Me Queda Mas.’ It seemed to have an effect on our crew, and that was so powerful to me.”
The coming-of-age series, which explores Selena’s road to success from performing small gigs to becoming one of the biggest female artists in Latin music, premiered alongside an official soundtrack with 20 of her greatest hits including “Como La Flor,” “Baila Esta Cumbia” and “Buenos Amigos.”
Fueled by its success on Netflix, the soundtrack debuted at No. 8 on the Latin Pop Albums chart dated Dec. 19, marking the late singer’s first entry and top 10 since 2016 following the former No. 1 greatest-hits compilation Lo Mejor De…Selena (April 2016).
