Mariah Carey is both the Queen of Christmas and the Queen of throwing shade.
It all started when CNN’s Senior Campaign Editor Kyle Blaine took to Twitter on Thursday (Dec. 17) to share that he and his husband do an ornament exchange every year.
This year, Blaine was gifted an ornament of Carey, “which is very festive!” The Christmas tree decoration in the accompanying photo shows the chanteuse in her red-and-white ensemble from her 1994 Merry Christmas album cover.
Carey did not seem to think the ornament looked like her — to be fair, it really doesn’t — and replied to the tweet with a short but scathing statement. “This is… Not approved (But it’s the thought that counts).”
Blaine didn’t seem too upset about the pop icon’s criticism, hilariously tweeting that he has “Lots of mixed emotions to get so many private messages congratulating me on getting completely and utterly wrecked by MC.”
