If you were worried that there isn’t a perfect soundtrack to Monday night’s Great Conjunction celestial event — when Jupiter and Saturn will be as close as they’ve been in the sky in nearly 800 years — Katy Perry’s got you covered. The singer surprised her KatyCats on Thursday night (Dec. 17) with her aptly titled Cosmic Energy compilation, which collects some of her most inspiring and spacey jams, from “E.T.” to “Not the End of the World,” “This Moment,” “By the Grace of God,” “Bigger Than Me” and “Wide Awake.”
Earlier this week, Perry surprised the Katy Nation in another way: by debuting a new look featuring long black waves of hair with a blunt-cut fringe that harkened back to her style back in the One of the Boys and Teenage Dream days. And, for the record, the Great Conjunction — which is “great” because it involves the two largest planets in our solar system seeming to pass each other as seen from Earth — won’t take place again until 2080.
