Dua Lipa finally made it back to the Saturday Night Live stage on Dec. 19, 2020, to help close out the year on NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show. Billboard’s 2020 Powerhouse Award winner had originally been scheduled for a performance in March to promote her new album Future Nostalgia, but her appearance was canceled as the show went on hiatus as much of the country went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The singer-songwriter — who made her first SNL appearance in February 2018 — kicked off with Future Nostalgia’s lead single, “Don’t Start Now.” Dressed in a leopard-print bustier, the showed off her vocals with the catchy tune on a festive stage decorated with holiday lights, garlands, and a wreath. Toward the end of the song, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, Lipa gave a cheerful shout-out: “SNL! Happy holidays!” she said. The artist ended the song by blowing a kiss to viewers.
For her second song, Lipa brought her appearance to new heights with “Levitating,” the latest single from her sophomore album. Dressed in white Valentino couture — complete with the gigantic feathery hat that moved like jellyfish tentacles in the breeze — she delivered her latest hit. (Her remix of the tune featuring DaBaby reached No. 20 on the Hot 100.)
In addition to performing, the performer also appeared in a sketch alongside host Kristen Wiig and SNL writer and featured player Bowen Yang.
