Machine Gun Kelly is joining the list of performers to take the stage for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2021.
The rocker will take the stage live from the heart of Times Square in New York City, with the TV event — now in its 49th year — scheduled to air on Dec. 31 beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
Hosted by Ryan Seacrest (in his sixteenth year!), the annual New Year’s Eve special will also feature appearances by the likes of Billy Porter, Cyndi Lauper and Jimmie Allen, and a special performance by headliner Jennifer Lopez in the minutes before the ball drops to ring in 2021.
Performing from Los Angeles’ Hollywood Party are previously announced performers Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat and Nelly. Ciara will be hosting the festivities on the West Coast. More performers are expected to be announced in the coming days leading up to the end of the year.
As in all things 2020, this year’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve will look a bit different than it has in years past. For the first time in its nearly 50-year history, the broadcast will be closed to the public due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Kelly will most likely perform a number from his 2020 LP, Tickets to My Downfall, which earned the star his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 upon its September release. The pop-punk project — which also earned the distinction as the first rock album to top the chart since Tool’s Fear Inoculum in September 2019 — has thus far spawned a trio of singles: “Bloody Valentine,” “Concert for Aliens” and the Blackbear-assisted “My Ex’s Best Friend.”
Since the album’s release, Kelly has also collaborated with Yungblud (who appears on Tickets to My Downfall bonus track “Body Bag”) on album cut “Acting Like That” off the latter’s new LP Weird!.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2021 is produced by dick clark productions, which is owned by MRC Entertainment, the parent company of Billboard.
