A video of Michael Bublé baking cookies at home with his wife is the No. 1 upload on Billboard’s year-end Top Facebook Live Videos chart for 2020.
Billboard’s Top Facebook Live Videos chart is a monthly look at the widest-reaching and most-reacted-to videos posted by musicians on Facebook Live, as tracked by media analytics company Shareablee, on a month-to-month basis. Rankings are determined by a formula that blends reactions, comments, shares and first-seven-days views. For the year-end 2019 list, the top videos of the year are compared to one another using the same formula, using the tracking period of Dec. 1, 2019, through Nov. 30, 2020.
Uploaded on April 6, Bublé’s video was one of many livestreams posted by musicians during the early months of quarantine due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. It featured the crooner and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, baking oatmeal cookies at home.
The video attracted controversy after Bublé elbowed Lopilato before apologizing, later denying allegations that he was abusive; in her own Instagram post later, Lopilato also defended her family from the allegations.
Bublé’s clip was far-and-away the biggest video by a musician on Facebook Live in 2020 in terms of views in its first seven days, with 38.6 million watches, according to Shareablee. It was also the most-reacted-to upload, with 480,000 reactions.
The second-biggest video of the year came in the waning weeks of the tracking period: Pepe Aguilar’s November tribute to his late mother Flor Silvestre, who died Nov. 25 at age 90. The hour-long clip featured Silvestre’s graveside funeral.
Aguilar’s video was the only other upload from a musician besides Buble’s to crack 10 million views in its first seven days, with 17.5 million. It was also shared 119,000 times, the most of any by a musician in the tracking period.
