Cardi B had a little something extra to celebrate over the holiday weekend. Two years after former manager Klenord “Shaft” Raphael sued the “WAP” rapper for $10 million alleging breach of contract, unjust enrichment and defamation — which was met with a $15 million counterclaim from Cardi alleging that he signed her original deal without a lawyer present — both legal matters were reportedly dismissed in court last week.
According to documents obtained by Allhiphop, a ruling in the case revealed that, “This action, including all claims and counterclaims, is hereby dismissed in its entirety with prejudice against all parties. The parties have further agreed that all parties to this action shall bear their own costs and attorney’s fees.”
A spokesperson for Cardi had not returned requests for comment at press time, but the rapper appeared to respond with some joy to the settlement.
“Feels good to be free,” Cardi tweeted on Sunday (Dec. 27) along with a retweet of a story about the purported settlement; “with prejudice” means that neither side can refile a new suit about the same matters again.
Raphael’s suit claimed that Cardi broke the agreement they signed in 2015 before she broke through with her smash hit “Bodak Yellow” and he got her a spot on Love & Hip-Hop that helped launch her career.
