The Foo Fighters are preparing to rock your New Year’s Eve with the release of their latest single, the rollicking “No Son of Mine.”
The Motorhead-esque charging song is the follow-up to “Shame Shame,” which will also appear on the band’s upcoming 10th studio album, Medicine at Midnight (Feb. 5).
“No son of mine will ever do/ The work of villains, the will of fools,” singer/guitarist Dave Grohl sings over chunky guitars and relentless kick drum beat on the song that features the Foos’ signature mix of hard rock and Queen-inspired driving pop.
The nine-song, 37-minute Medicine was produced by the Foo Fighters and Greg Kurstin and features the songs: “Making a Fire,” “Shame Shame,” “Cloudspotter,” “Waiting on a War,” “Medicine at Midnight,” “No Son of Mine,” “Holding Poison,” “Chasing Birds” and “Love Dies Young.”
“Shame Shame” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart on the tally dated Dec. 19, notching their ninth Mainstream Rock Songs leader and first since Dec. 2017’s “The Sky is a Neighborhood.”
