Usually when Twitter users go deep into a public figure’s old tweets, they tend to find some racist, disturbing or inappropriate thoughts. That certainly wasn’t the case with Democratic Senate candidate Jon Ossoff, who turns out, is a big Imagine Dragons fan.
Back in September 2012, Ossoff replied to a tweet from Pitchfork, sharing that he’s “Looking forward to your writeup of the new @imaginedragons album.”
While the politician’s support for the Vegas-based rock band seems a little random, The Appeal President Josie Duffy Rice quickly clarified that Ossoff actually went to high school with Imagine Dragon’s drummer Daniel Platzman and that he was just supporting an old friend!
Unfortunately for Ossoff, Pitchfork didn’t review an Imagine Dragons album until 2018, giving Origins a 5.3 rating and deeming it “categorically soaring and sometimes pleasant, but it is so broad and hollow that it is difficult to feel anything these guys are feeling.”
In better news at the time of publication, Ossoff is in the lead in Georgia for a Senate seat. If he wins, each party will have 50 seats in Congress’ upper chamber. Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, however, will be the tie-breaking vote for the Democratic Party.
