For the first time in thirty-two years, Armando Manzanero ranks on Billboard’s Latin Pop Albums chart.
20 Éxitos Originales, a compilation set originally released in 2007, arrives at No. 10 (chart dated Jan. 9), following Manzanero’s death Dec. 28 due to COVID-19 complications. He was 85.
The 20-track set follows Manzanero’s first and only entry on Latin Pop Albums up to date: 20 Grandes Éxitos earned him his first top 10 in 1988 (No. 6 debut and peak).
The Yucatán singer-songwriter and composer and one of Latin America’s innovators of romantic ballads, collects his second top 10 ever on any Billboard chart.
20 Éxitos Originales starts with 1,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Jan. 31, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Most of its opening sum derives from streaming activity.
Ozuna & Camilo Join Atop Latin Pop Airplay: Elsewhere in the Latin pop world, Ozuna and Camilo’s “Despeinada” hits No. 1 on Latin Pop Airplay in its 13th week on the list.
The pop-rhythmic collaboration rises 2-1 with a 2% gain in airplay (to 8 million in audience impressions) earned in the week ending Jan. 3.
Before “Despeinada,” Ozuna previously sat atop the chart with “Hasta Que Salga El Sol” for six consecutive weeks starting Dec. 14, 2019. “Despeinada’s” new high grants him his fifth No. 1. Camilo, meanwhile locks his second leader.
While the song was already a top 10 on Latin Airplay (No. 8 peak) and Latin Rhythm Airplay (No. 5; chart dated Jan. 2), it escalates to a new high on Hot Latin Songs: 19-16 in its 17th week.
