Ringo Starr maintains that the thrill is still there when he performs onstage with Paul McCartney. The legendary drummer was quoted by NME as saying, "I love that, getting up with him. We did it at the O2 in England (in 2018). And then he called me and he said, 'I’m doing Dodger Stadium, if you want to do a few numbers.' So he picked three numbers, and I got up and went down there. And it’s magic for the audience as well as us. I love playing with him.' The audience is like, 'Oh, there’s two of them! Wow.' It lifts everything, in a joyous way. So, yeah, I had a great time."
McCartney is one of the backing vocalists on Ringo's latest track — "Here's To The Nights," which is the lead single to his upcoming EP, Zoom In. Ringo went on to explain, "We’re still pals. We don’t hang out with each other a lot. But if we’re in the same country, and if we’re in the same town we always have a dinner, and we say hi or he comes over here or I go over to his house.”
Ringo Starr admitted he needed to listen to his old Beatles albums in order to prep for his most recent onstage reunion with Paul McCartney. The surviving members of the "Fab Four" delighted fans with their two-song reunion at L.A.'s Dodger Stadium on July 13th, 2019 in which the pair tackled "Sgt. Pepper's – Reprise" and the band's "White Album" favorite, "Helter Skelter."
We asked Ringo about how it felt rocking out once more in a baseball stadium with his old bassist: ["Oh, great! It's always a pleasure and a thrill for me to play with Paul. And he calls me up and says, 'I've got these two numbers I want you to play on. . .' Y'know, he's been playing them for the last couple of years, so, he knows how they go, but I have to get the record out again and say, 'How does that go?'
