Matthew West banks his 10th No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Airplay chart as his co-penned single “Truth Be Told” rises 2-1 on the list dated Jan. 30. The song gained by 6% to 9.5 million audience impressions in the week ending Jan. 24, according to MRC Data.
West, from Downers Grove, Ill., adds his 10th Christian Airplay leader, among 22 top 10s. He moves him into a tie with Jeremy Camp and Chris Tomlin for the third-most No. 1s in the chart’s history, which dates to 2003. MercyMe Leads with 17, followed by Casting Crowns with 11.
West last led with “The God Who Stays,” which reigned for two weeks starting in February 2020. Last year also saw him release “Quarantine Life,” to encourage his fans during the COVID-19 pandemic (No. 40 peak, May), as well as the holiday tracks “Gobble Gobble” (No. 32, November) and “The Hope of Christmas” (No. 9, this January).
West first dominated Christian Airplay with his freshman single, “More,” for six weeks beginning in March 2004.
On this week’s Gospel Airplay chart, Byron Cage earns his seventh top 10 as his solo-written “I Can’t Give Up” pushes 11-10. He last visited the tier with “Oh How Good It Is,” which reached No. 10 last April. He boasts one No. 1, “I Will Bless You Lord,” for seven weeks starting in April 2006.
