Maroon 5 and Megan Thee Stallion take the scenic route around Los Angeles for their “Beautiful Mistakes” music video, which premiered on Thursday (March 11).
The Sophie Muller-directed visual opens with Adam Levine’s bittersweet drive around downtown while reflecting on his ex before his mind wanders and his flying convertible drifts into the technicolor sky. He drives past notable L.A. landmarks such as the Griffith Observatory, the Hollywood sign and LAX before Meg swoops into the passenger seat of Levine’s car and taunts him with his fantasy. The two sugarcoat their past by driving past Randy’s Donuts and showering the city with its treats.
During an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Levine recalled having a ball with the Good News rapper while on set of the music video. “She is a superstar, but really in the truest sense, man, she’s all class, and just we had the best time shooting the video, and it was just a lot of fun, man,” he said. “I was cracking jokes the whole time, making her laugh.”
Megan Thee Stallion is up for best new artist as well as record of the year, best rap performance and best rap song for “Savage,” featuring Beyoncé, at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards this Sunday.
