Maren Morris and John Mayer turned “The Bones” into a bone-chilling duet during the 63rd annual Grammy Awards on Sunday evening (March 14).
After Miranda Lambert finished her performance of “Bluebird” and tossed it to her fellow Texas gal, Morris continued building on the foundation of her No. 1 country hit “The Bones” by blending her soaring country voice with his soft rock vocals and guitar skills.
“The Bones” was nominated for best country song. “Crowded Table” by The Highwomen, the country supergroup Morris is a part of, took home the trophy in the category, which was written by members Brandi Carlile and Natalie Hemby as well as Lori McKenna.
Seven-time Grammy winner Mayer is not a current nominee, but his collaboration with Morris marks his sixth time on the Grammys stage.
