For the first time since 2016, Justin Bieber is back at No. 1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart as a lead artist.
“Peaches,” featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, debuts atop the list dated April 3 with 30.6 million U.S. streams in the March 19-25 tracking period, according to MRC Data.
It’s Bieber’s fifth ruler on Streaming Songs, which began in 2013, but just his second as a lead artist, following “Sorry,” which led for eight weeks beginning in January 2016. Between then and “Peaches,” Bieber reigned on Streaming Songs three times, each time as a featured artist. Major Lazer’s “Cold Water,” on which Bieber was featured with Mo, crowned the tally for two weeks (August 2016), followed by DJ Khaled’s “I’m the One” (Bieber featured alongside Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne for one week [May 2017]).
His last No. 1 before “Peaches” was a doozy: 16-week ruler “Despacito,” whose lead artists are Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee; until 2019, it was the longest-running No. 1 in Streaming Songs’ history.
Bieber’s five No. 1s slot him into sole possession of the second-most rulers in chart history, behind Drake with 10.
Meanwhile, “Peaches” is the first Streaming Songs leader for both Caesar and Giveon. It’s Caesar’s first Streaming Songs entry, while Giveon’s previous best had been Drake’s No. 6-peaking “Chicago Freestyle,” on which he’s featured, in May 2020.
Concurrently, as previously reported, “Peaches” debuts at No. 1 on the multi-metric Billboard Hot 100.
In all, nine titles from Bieber’s latest album, Justice, reach Streaming Songs, with “Peaches” joined in the top 10 by “Hold On” (No. 9, 16 million streams).
