BTS’ latest song “Film Out” has topped this week’s new music poll.
Music fans voted in a poll published Friday (April 2) on Billboard, choosing the K-pop boy band’s new ballad as their favorite new music release of the past week.
“Film Out” brought in 78% of the vote, beating out new music by Olivia Rodrigo (“Deja Vu”), Demi Lovato (Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over), Garbage (“The Men Who Rule the World”), Ozuna featuring Ovi (“Envidioso”), and others.
“Film Out” was written with J-pop band Back Number and appears as the ending theme in the new Japanese film Signal: Long-Term Unsolved Case Investigation Team.
“We were drawn to the beautiful melody when we first received the demo from [Iyori Shimizu],” BTS said in a news release. “It’s a ballad with a poignant melody and lyrics, and we’re sure it has the power to touch many people’s hearts.”
“Film Out” will be included on the the septet’s next Japanese-language album, BTS, The Best, which is scheduled for release on June 16.
Placing second on the past week’s tally with nearly 10% of the vote was Rodrigo’s powerful new song, “Deja Vu.” On the track, she commits to post-breakup wholeheartedly, jamming in lyrical details and vocal flourishes with the ease of a natural pop star.
“Deja Vu” follows the pop singer’s runaway hit single “Drivers License,” which dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks earlier this year. It continues to lead 2021 as the year’s most streamed song globally.
Rodrigo’s debut album, *O*R, is due May 21.
