Katy Perry is a super busy new mom. In addition to taking care of baby Daisy Dove, Katy is also gearing up for next week’s kick-off of American Idol’s live rounds on April 16. During Sunday night’s (April 4) first episode of the all-star celebrity duet rounds with guests Joss Stone, Katharine McPhee, Jimmie Allen, Ryan Tedder, Brian McKnight and Ben Rector, Perry was so impressed with 20-year-old coffee shop manager Cassandra Coleman’s run through Sigma’s “Find Me” and her duet with Tedder on “Apologize” that she divulged some very personal information.
“A couple things,” said Perry, who was seated at a safe distance from fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan in the studio with a limited audience due to COVID-19 protocols. “Your voice is a spiritual experience. It is otherworldly angelic. And as a new mother, I don’t have very much time, so I have quit shaving my legs. But when you sang, the hair on my legs grew an inch and a half. So, full-body chills.”
Coleman blushed and smiled a mile wide at Katy’s praise, which host Ryan Seacrest joked inspired Bryant to do his own investigation to make sure Perry wasn’t pulling their legs. As she propped her sandaled feet up on his desk, Luke exlaimed, “she literally has leg hair!”
Katy extended the joke a short time later on Twitter, with an animated tweet showing cartoon legs growing thick hair, writing, “An actual live look at my leg hair while I hear @casscoleman sing #AmericanIdol.”
