It’s a given that Swifties are politely losing their damn minds over Friday’s (April 9) release of Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) album.
The 27-track re-recording of the singer’s landmark 2008 Billboard No. 1 album features freshly recorded versions of all the original songs, plus six new “From the Vault” tracks we’ve never heard before.
The rapturous reception extended to Taylor’s peers and friends, who hopped on Twitter to celebrate the bold move by Swift to take control of her art after the rights to the album — and five other early releases — were sold to manager Scooter Braun in 2019 as part of his purchase of the music assets of her old label, Big Machine Label Group.
“I hadn’t heard our voices together since sitting in with you on the 1989 tour in Toronto !” wrote Keith Urban, who appears on the “Vault” track “That’s When” and the contributes backing vocals to the re-recorded “We Were Happy.” “Magic Congrats @taylorswift13 – you’ve got some gems in that vault !!! Thanks for having me join you on a couple of them.”
In an Instagram Story, Colbie Caillat — who appears on the revamped “Breathe” — wrote, “Taylor & I wrote ‘Breathe’ 13 years ago in Nashville, so happy to be a part of Fearless again, (Taylor’s Version). What a beautiful album T.” Sofia Carson was also digging one of the new tracks, tweeting, “HELLO MISTER PERFECTLY FIIINNEEE,” while James McVey of The Vamps gave props to Swift for breathing new life into her beloved songs.
“The Queen @taylorswift13 dropping this is like when old movies get recoloured, only this s–t hits harder,” he wrote.
