Cher gets it too! The iconic performer took a break from promoting her upcoming documentary, Cher & The Loneliest Elephant, to — like many people in recent days — share her appreciation of Christopher Meloni. But in her case, it’s his acting skills she’s praising.
“CHRISTOPHER MELONI IS EXCELLENT, CHARISMATIC ACTOR,” Cher tweeted in the early morning hours of Monday (April 12).
The Emmy-nominated actor responded, “A lovely way to start the day.”
The singer’s tweet comes a little more than a week after Meloni made his long awaited April 1 return to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where he played fan-favorite Det. Elliot Stabler until his shocking exit at the end of season 12 in 2011 due to a contract dispute. The reunion with his former partner, Capt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), and colleague Sgt. Fin Tutuola (Ice-T) kicked off a new Law & Order spinoff, Organized Crime, centered around the passionate, anger-filled detective.
Meloni — who has starred on True Blood, Pose, Oz, Happy, and many other shows — has been making headlines and trending on social media the past week. After a resident of Brooklyn’s Park Slope snapped a photo of the actor and his curvaceous backside while he was filming in the neighborhood, the image went viral. Since then, the actor has been showing off his sense of humor and joining in on the social media fun, wittily responding to fans’ appreciative tweets and questions about his “cake.”
While NBC’s long-running Law & Order franchise has featured numerous musicians in special guest roles — including Ludacris, Hillary Duff, and Ashanti — Cher has not yet appeared.
