Lil Tjay posts the best showing of his career on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as Destined 2 Win debuts at No. 2 on the list dated April 17. The set, released on Columbia Records, starts with 62,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending April 8, according to MRC Data.
As is the norm for hip-hop albums, streaming activity powers the first-week total. Of the starting sum, 58,000 units derive from streaming-equivalent album or SEA units, which equals 86.14 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs, with album sales comprising 3,000 units and the remaining 1,000 from track-equivalent units. (One unit equals either one album sale, 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.)
Destined gives the rapper his fourth entry on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and second visit to the top 10. He first appeared on the chart with 2019’s F.N., which reached No. 21, and followed with True 2 Myself (No. 5) the same year and then State of Emergency (No. 20) in 2020. Rod Wave’s SoulFly remains at No. 1 for a second week.
Elsewhere, Destined likewise begins at No. 2 on the Top Rap Albums list, outdoing his previous high with True 2 Myself’s No. 4 showing. On the Billboard 200, meanwhile, Destined opens at No. 5 to match True 2 Myself for the rapper’s best result there.
As Destined arrives, it sparks one debut and invigorates two previous releases on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The newcomer is “Run It Up,” featuring Offset and Moneybagg Yo, which begins at No. 26. Lead Destined single “Calling My Phone,” meanwhile, rebounds 11-5. The track, which features 6lack, debuted at No. 1 in February. Plus, the album cut “Headshot,” with Polo G and Fivio Foreign, rallies 31-27 after having previously reached No. 21.
“Calling My Phone” also claims another top 10 showing this week as it ascends 12-9 on the Rhythmic Airplay list. There, the single gains 9% in plays in the week ending April 11 to become the ninth-most played track on the rhythmic radio format, according to MRC Data. The move also ties for Lil Tjay’s highest placement on the list, matching the peak of his featured turn on the 2019 Polo G single “Pop Out.”
Beyond Rhythmic Airplay, other notable radio ranks for “Phone” include on Rap Airplay (up two spots to No. 8), Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay (up 16-15) and Pop Airplay (holding at No. 37).
