On April 28, 2001, Brooks & Dunn’s “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” began a six-week reign on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. The domination stands as the longest of their 20 No. 1s, logged in 1991-2005, the most among duos in the survey’s history.
Penned by Tom Shapiro and Rivers Rutherford, the song was released as the first single from Steers & Stripes, one of Brooks & Dunn’s seven No. 1s on Top Country Albums tallied in 1994-2019.
Brooks & Dunn hung up their boots following their 2010 Last Rodeo Tour but reunited in 2015, co-headlining a residence with Reba McEntire at Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace. In 2019, the act was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the same year that it released Reboot, featuring 12 hits re-recorded as duets with other artists, including “Nothing” with Brett Young.
As Brooks, now 65, and Dunn, 67, plan to resume touring later this year, the former continues hosting the syndicated American Country Countdown, for which he won for national on-air personality of the year at the 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards April 18.
