The family and friends of Robert “Black Rob” Ross gathered on Friday (April 30th) to say goodbye to the former Bad Boy rapper. Black Rob died after struggling with several health issues on April 17th, 2021. He was 52.
Black Rob's homegoing service was held at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Harlem, NY. Grandmaster Caz presided over the ceremony, who announced that Governor Cuomo signed a proclamation in honor of the fallen rapper.
During the ceremony, there was also a touching moment where the chaplain shouted out Rob's childhood friend's Jeff Mobb, saying that they “were there from the beginning and were there in the end.”
G-Dep‘s sons were also present. They read a poem and rap from their dad.
Bishop Whitehead said a few kind words about the rapper, saying “Rob was loyal.” The Bishop went to the Book of Acts in the Bible to shared that Rob was actually essential to him turning to God and accepting his call into ministry.
Former Bad Boy exec Harve Pierre spoke on behalf of Diddy, saying, “Black Rob was one of his greatest artists. Rob was a friend and a reliable artist.”
One friend named Pete actually defended Diddy, saying that the music mogul had always been there for Rob.
