Saturday Night Live is ending season 46 with some popular artists. NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show announced on Monday (May 3) that it’ll be ending the season with Olivia Rodrigo and Lil Nas X as musical guests.
Rodrigo will be making her SNL debut on May 15, when Keeghan-Michael Key will host for the first time. Lil Nas X’s May 22 performance for the season finale will also mark his debut on the show. The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy will be hosting that night for the first time.
SNL previously announced that Elon Musk will host when the show returns May 8, with Miley Cyrus as the musical guest. While SNL airs on NBC on Saturday nights at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT, those without cable don’t have to miss out. With seven-day free trials on fuboTV and SlingTV, NBC is available to stream live from any device.
While both Rodrigo and Lil Nas X are performing for the first time on SNL, the show recently poked fun at both of their Billboard Hot 100 hit songs. On the Feb. 20 show hosted by Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page, Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” was the subject of a sketch. In it, her song plays on a jukebox at a bar, putting a bunch of tough guys in touch with their emotions as they sing along to the heartbreak ballad.
SNL drummed up some controversy of its own by taking on Lil Nas X’s headline-making video for “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” which received criticism for depicting the artist sliding down a stripper pole to give Satan a lap dance in hell. In the April 3 sketch, Lil Nas X (played by Chris Redd) gave God (Mikey Day) a racy dance “just to even things out.”
