Myke Towers claims his second top 10 on the Top Latin Albums chart as his third studio album, Lyke Mike, debuts at No. 3 on the May 8-dated survey. The set follows Towers’ sophomore effort Easy Money Baby, his first entry on the all-genre Latin chart (No. 1 start, Feb. 2020).
Lyke Mike, released April 23 on One Way International/Warner/Warner Latina, earned a little more than 16,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 29, according to MRC Data, 4,000 units ahead of its predecessor’s debut week sum, despite its No. 3 start. Nearly all of Lyke Mike’s starting sum is powered by streaming activity.
The Top Latin Albums chart ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
Only six Latin albums have posted a larger week, by units earned, in 2021 — though a number of those other six albums posted bigger frames in multiple weeks.
Of Lyke Mike’s 16,000 equivalent album units earned in the tracking week ending April 29, SEA units comprise almost 16,000 (equaling 23.3 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks), while album sales and TEA units comprise less than 1,000 units combined.
The set was previewed by two songs on the airplay-, digital sales and streaming-blended Hot Latin Songs chart: “Cuenta,” (No. 45 peak, April 3-dated list) and “Burberry,” with Nengo Flow, which re-enters at No. 45. In addition, three songs of the album debut on the current list: “Mírenme Ahora” at No. 23, “Pin Pin” at No. 40, and “Cuando Me Ven” at No. 48.
Beyond his latest Hot Latin Songs debuts, Towers’ collaborative effort “Pareja del Año,” with Sebastián Yatra climbs 44-25, while “Bandido,” with Juhn, dips 5-8 and “Travesuras,” with the all-star team of Nio García, Casper Mágico, Ozuna, and Wisin & Yandel descends 21-24. In all, Towers places a total of seven titles on the current tally, one less of his career high of eight concurrent titles in the same chart week (Jan. 2 and Jan. 23).
Lyke Mike concurrently starts at No. 36 36 on the all-genre Billboard 200, his highest charting effort there.
