Between the national unrest back home in Colombia and major releases for his career, J Balvin’s week seems bittersweet.
In honor of his 36th birthday Friday (May 7), Balvin released an ultra-personal track dubbed “7 de Mayo.” Penned by Balvin and Keityn, the hip-hop song is an autobiographical piece intertwined with recordings from real-life commentaries, including Daddy Yankee.
On his special day, Amazon also released their original movie The Boy From Medellín, at the helm of Oscar-nominated director Matthew Heineman.
Meanwhile, Billboard celebrates Balvin’s major accomplishments and contributions to Latin music with his biggest hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart that reached No. 1.
The list includes his 2014 single “Ay Vamos,” which put him on the international map to his infectious 2018 collaboration with Nicky Jam in “X,” his Dua Lipa, and Bad Bunny “Un Dia,” and beyond. Check it out below.
