Alan Jackson returned to his hometown of Newnan, GA on Saturday (June 26th) to headline a fundraiser for the victims of a recent EF-4 tornado. The event drew more than 20,000 fans and has thus far raised more than $2 million.
Alan told the crowd, “It’s good to be back down here in my hometown of Newnan, Georgia . . . When we saw what that tornado did coming through here a few months ago, it broke my heart. It broke (wife) Denise’s heart. We had relatives affected by it and friends. The high school that we went to got hit. I was hoping we’d be able to do something to try to help down here and…it’s just been amazing how this community came together to make this happen.”
Chris Young, Caylee Hammack and Newnan natives Adam Wright and Brian Wright joined Alan to perform at the fundraiser. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Coweta Community Foundation’s tornado relief fund.
Alan's headlining performance was livestreamed exclusively on Facebook, reaching nearly one million fans worldwide and allowing them to contribute to the fundraising efforts.
