As J Balvin and Skrillex’s “In Da Getto” debuts at No. 7 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart (dated July 17), the latter nabs his first entry and first top 10 there. Balvin secures his 34th top 10.
“In Da Getto,” the new club banger produced by EDM superstar Skrillex and Tainy, interpolates the ‘90s dance hit “In Da Getto” by the David Morales-led Bad Yard Club ensemble, featuring Crystal Waters, which reached No. 20 on the Dance Club Songs chart in 1996.
A mix of reggaetón, dance and dembow, the new track — and its music video including TikTok personality Khaby Lame and Instagram dancer Mufasa — was released June 2 via Sueños Globales/Universal Music Latino/UMLE. It debuts on the airplay-, streaming-, and digital sales-blended Hot Latin Songs list mainly on the strength of streaming activity and radio airplay. After its first full tracking frame ending July 8, “Getto” earned 3.2 million U.S. streams, according to MRC Data. Enough to arrive in Latin Streaming Songs’ top 20 (at No. 18); Skrillex’s first entry there.
“Getto” also benefits from radio support as it bows at No. 4 on the all-Latin genre Latin Airplay list with 8 million audience impressions, up 216%. Balvin captures his 36th top 10 there and Skrillex his first ever since the chart’s inception in 1994.
“Getto” concurrently sold 1,700 downloads in its first week, yielding a No. 1 debut on Latin Digital Song Sales. The high start earns Skrillex his first No. 1 on any Latin chart. J Balvin, meanwhile, breaks away from a tie with Shakira and leads with 12 No. 1s.
Elsewhere on Billboard charts, the track soars 25-2 on the multi-metric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart after its No. 25 debut last week thanks mostly to early radio play. It’s the fourth top 10 for both acts. For Balvin, “Getto” is his first since “Ritmo (Bad Boys For Life),” with Black Eyed Peas, enjoyed 10 weeks at No. 1 in early 2020. “Getto” also allows Skrillex his highest position in six years, since his co-production with Diplo, “Where Are U Now,” featuring Justin Bieber, spent two weeks at No. 1 in July 2015.
Concurrently, “Getto” bows in the top 10 on two Hot Dance/Electronic Songs component charts, Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales (No. 2) and Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs (No. 7).
Beyond its Latin and Dance charts wins, Skrillex enjoys global reach as “Getto” arrives at No. 119 on the worldwide Global 200 ranking and at No. 124 on Global Excl. U.S. tally. His first visit to both charts.
