JoJo Siwa is ready to go back to her dancing roots and make history on Dancing With the Stars.
At ABC’s Television Critics Association panel on Thursday (Aug. 26), it was announced that season 30 of Dancing With the Stars would feature the show’s first same-sex pairing of contestants; Siwa will be paired with a female professional dancer to compete on the show.
In a video shared on the show’s Twitter account, Siwa expressed her eagerness to get started on the show. “I am so excited to be a part of this year’s Dancing With the Stars season 30, and to be dancing with a girl,” she said in the video. “I think it’s so cool … I can’t wait to dance every week, I can’t wait to meet my partner, oh my gosh, there’s so many things I’m so excited for!”
Dancing With the Stars also announced that 18-year-old Team USA gymnast Suni Yee will also be joining the show’s 30th season, hot off of her gold medal win in women’s gymnastics individual all-around at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. Both Siwa and Lee are set to appear on Friday’s episode of Good Morning America for a sit-down interview about their casting, before the full cast of season 30 is revealed Sept. 8.
Dancing With the Stars season 30 premieres Monday, Sept. 20, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Check out Siwa’s video message below:
