Adele is taking fans behind the scenes of her “Easy On Me” video. On Thursday (Nov. 4), the singer released a blooper version of the song’s official video, sharing hilarious snippets of the outtakes her crew caught while filming the track’s visual.
In several shot of the video, the singer can be seen cracking up during takes where she’s meant to be serious. In the original video, Adele is seen in a car, pushing in a cassette of her song into the tape deck; in the behind-the-scenes video, she struggles several times with getting the cassette to stay fully inserted, in part because of her long nails. In a different scene, Adele gets hit in the face with flying paper and bursts into fits of laughter.
Upon its release, “Easy on Me” entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 68 — a feat she managed to achieve just five hours after the song arrived. The following week, the song skyrocketed to the No. 1, and is currently holding the top spot on the Hot 100 chart for a second week.
“Easy On Me” is the only single that Adele has released from her forthcoming album, 30. The singer described the record — which will be released on Nov. 19 — as a way to tell her nine-year-old son Angelo why she and ex-husband Simon Konecki are no longer together. “I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness,” she told British Vogue.
Speaking with Vogue, Adele revealed that she feels like the album is “self-destruction, then self-reflection and then sort of self-redemption…But I feel ready. I really want people to hear my side of the story this time.”
