Metallica fans are in luck with the announcement of the band's just-announced ongoing archival project, named “The Metallica Black Box,” which will house “an array of artifacts, memorabilia, and rare vault content from throughout their career.”
Rolling Stone reported the website https://metallicablackbox.com/collections/video-audio has already launched with The Black Album Exhibition, “which features a variety of items tied to the band’s 1991 self-titled LP (known as 'The Black Album'), which just celebrated its 30th anniversary. The exhibition includes a handful of galleries filled with rare photos, while Metallica will also livestream 10 rare shows from 'The Black Album' era, selected by super-fan and Metallica historian Dan Nykolayko (also known as 'Spider Dan').”
Also announced as part of the roll-out is a ticketed livestream series, which launches on November 20th, with “Metallica’s September 11th, 1991 show in Graz, Austria (an encore presentation will air November 27th). On December 4th, Metallica will air a December 1st, 1991 show from Cleveland, Ohio, while on December 11th they’ll screen a February 13th, 1992 gig in Los Angeles. Tickets are available on the Black Box website.”
When we last caught up with Lars Ulrich, he told us that Metallica's primary objective is doing the best it can to satisfy its fans: “The main thing really is just the fans. How do you communicate with your fans, how do you get the music to the fans, how do you offer your fans the best Metallica experience that you can?”
Metallica next performs on November 27th in Arlington, Texas at Triller Fight Club at Globe Life Stadium.
