Mexican duo Los Del Limit earn a first entry and top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart with latest single “Siendo Sincero” as the tune debuts at No. 7 on the Dec. 4-dated survey.
The Texan group formed by brothers Ruben and Marcos Leyva previously earned a top 30 on Regional Mexican Airplay with “Amor Fugaz” (No. 26 high, Oct. 2-dated chart). The top 10 start on the all-metric Hot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, digital sales and streams, becomes the brothers’ highest-charting title.
“The production of ‘Siendo Sincero’ took place in my living room,” singer-songwriter Ruben Leyva tells Billboard. “The song was inspired by a girl I broke up with. I built the melody on guitar overnight and then came the lyrics, but I didn’t have a bass and I wanted to listen to it finished. All my friends were asleep, so I paid my friend Aldo a visit, who lives on the other side of my town, Midland, and that’s how the song came to be.”
“Siendo Sincero” bows at No. 7 mainly on the strength of streaming data. It logged 5.4 million streams after its first full tracking week ending Nov. 25, according to MRC Data, enough to launch at No. 4 on Latin Streaming Songs, the group’s first chart visit there.
“Whenever I finish a song, I like to drive around and listen to it to really feel it,” Leyva adds. “There are no challenges, only attempts.”
“Sincero” concurrently adds a career success for Los Del Limit as the song earns the brothers their first entry on Latin Digital Songs (starts at No. 25).
“We can’t thank enough the listeners after receiving the news from Billboard. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are,” Leyva continues. “The DEL team is also a fundamental part of all this, taking us to other levels. Congratulations for everything we’ve achieved; onwards.”
