The late Juice WRLD lands his fourth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as Fighting Demons starts in the summit on the list dated Dec. 25. The set begins with 119,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Dec. 16, according to MRC Data.
Demons is the fourth consecutive leader and fifth overall chart appearance for the late rapper-singer, who died in December 2019 of an accidental overdose. His debut effort, Goodbye & Good Riddance, peaked at No. 3 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in August 2018, a few months before his first champ – the collaborative set Future and Juice WRLD Present…WRLD on Drugs, with Future – debuted at No. 1 that November. His next release, 2019’s Death Race for Love, ruled for two weeks, while his first posthumous LP, 2020’s Legends Never Die, logged three frames in charge.
Elsewhere, Demons debuts at No. 1 on the Top Rap Albums chart (where it is likewise Juice WRLD’s fourth champ) and at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard 200, behind Adele’s 30.
As Demons arrives, 13 of its songs debut on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, led by “Girl of My Dreams,” with SUGA (of BTS) at No. 3. The song traces its start to 41,000 sales downloads in the week ending Dec. 16, prompting a No. 1 entrance on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart.
“Girl of My Dreams” also registered 9 million U.S. streams in the week ending Dec. 16, enough for a No. 25 bow on R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs.
Behind “Girl,” Juice WRLD captures another top 10 slot on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with “Burn” at No. 6. The pair combine to give the late artist his 14th and 15th top 10 appearances on the list. “Burn,” notably, is the album’s most-streamed song of the week, with 17.3 million U.S. streams.
