Coheed and Cambria log their fourth No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Hard Rock Albums chart with Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind, which debuts atop the July 9-dated ranking.
The set starts with 19,000 equivalent album units earned in the June 24-30 tracking week, according to Luminate. Of that sum, 15,000 are from album sales.
Coheed and Cambria, fronted by Claudio Sanchez, first ruled Top Hard Rock Albums with 2010’s Year of the Black Rainbow. The act reigned again with 2015’s The Color Before the Sun and 2018’s The Unheavenly Creatures.
Concurrently, Vaxis starts at No. 2 on Top Alternative Albums and No. 3 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums.
On the all-format Billboard 200, Vaxis opens at No. 23, marking the band’s 10th entry on the survey. The group has reached No. 5 highs twice, with Rainbow and 2012’s The Afterman: Ascension.
Vaxis track “The Liars Club” concurrently starts at No. 25 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. It follows the set’s “Shoulders,” which hit No. 20 last August.
“Liars” drew 475,000 official U.S. streams and garnered 269,000 radio audience impressions June 24-30. It peaked at No. 21 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart dated June 11 and currently ranks at No. 28. “Shoulders” reached No. 9 on Mainstream Rock Airplay in December, marking the first top 10 for the band, which first appeared on the chart in 2004.
