Intocable hits No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “Si Me Duele, Que Duela” lifts 2-1 on the July 16-dated ranking.
The new No. 1 arrives as the band returned to the stage for its Modus Operandi 2022 tour, which launched in Mexico in March in support of its Modus Operandi album due out in 2023, with the tejanos bouncing around over 30 cities around the U.S. “Si Me Duele” is the first single from the forthcoming set.
As “Si Me Duele” takes over atop Regional Mexican Airplay, the Tex-Mex band trades places with Banda MS, sending “Hay Que Hacer Dinero,” featuring Eden Muñoz, to No. 2 after its two-week reign.
“Si Me Duele” leads Regional Mexican Airplay in its 11th week thanks to a 5% boost in audience impressions, to 7.7 million, earned in the U.S. in the week ending July 10, according to Luminate.
With 17 champs in its account, Intocable enters a tie with Banda El Recodo for the third-most No. 1s on Regional Mexican Airplay among all acts since the chart’s inception in 1994, trailing only Calibre 50 who continues at the helm with 22 leaders, and Banda MS with 18. Here’s a recap of the leaderboard:
- 22, Calibre 50
- 18, Banda MS de Sergio Lizárraga
- 17, Banda El Recodo de Cruz Lizárraga
- 17, Intocable
- 16, Conjunto Primavera
- 16, La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho
- 16, Los Tigres del Norte
Thanks to its airplay reach, “Si Me Duele” becomes Intocable’s 17th leader and first in over nine years as it last seized the chart’s penthouse with the five-week ruler “Te Amo Para Siempre.” Since then the regional Mexican outfit placed 13 titles, among those three top 10s, including this week’s new champ.
Further, “Si Me Duele” continues its progress ascending 7-5 on the all-genre Latin Airplay chart, the highest peak since its debut at No. 47 on the May 21-dated survey.
“Si Me Duele” was written by Pablo Preciado and produced by American record producer and executive Don Was.
Carin León Arrives in the Top 10
Elsewhere on Regional Mexican Airplay, Carin León reaches the top 10 as “La Boda de Huitlacoche” rockets up the chart with a 21-9 sprint.
His seventh top 10 becomes the third largest rise to the upper tier in 2022. The Sonora-born singer-songwriter ties with another 12-rank climber: his featured role in Banda MS’s “Ojos Cerrados,” also rallied up 12 positions with an equal 21-9 ascent in Jan. Meanwhile, Grupo Firme and Banda El Recodo’s “El Reemplazo” takes the lead thus far, with a 33-10 surge (chart dated July 2)
“La Boda de Huitlacoche” takes home the Greatest Gainer honors assisted by a 97% increase in audience impressions, to 4.37 million. It’s another career achievement for León who has been touring with sold-out shows across Mexico and the U.S.
Over on Latin Airplay, “La Boda” debuts at No. 27, Leon’s highest debut among seven chart entries.
