Exceleration Music has acquired the catalog of Dutch independent label, publisher and artist management company Heroic Music Group. Heroic was founded in 2013 by Budi Voogt and Tim van Doorne, and has managed the careers and released music from artists including Ark Patrol, Unlike Pluto and San Holo. The deal marks Exceleration’s first in Europe, and follows recent announcements such as Exceleration’s venture with New York indie Mom+Pop Music, an alliance with the Justin Townes Earle estate, and a deal with indie label Bloodshot Records.
Verve Records has signed vocalist Samara Joy, who won the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2019 at age 19. Joy’s debut project, Linger Awhile, will release Sept. 16.
Dualtone Records has signed the band flipturn, ahead of the release of their debut album Shadowglow on Aug. 19. The band will soon be putting on their own curated festival, dubbed Playground Music Festival, in Gainesville, FL.
Keel Management and Thirty Knots owners Peter Rugo and Joey Papoutsis have teamed for a joint label venture agreement with Keel Digital client Masked Mortal. The label Mortal City Records, which focuses on acts in the rap, hip-hop and alternative genres, will be led through the Thirty Knots label. Masked Mortal began working with the Keel team in 2021 as a client of Keel Digital, a department started and run by talent manager Cassandra Couwenberg.
