Virtual rapper FN Meka signed to Capitol Records. According to a press release, the “AR” artist has drawn over 1 billion views and 10 million followers on TikTok. Capitol recently released “Florida Water,” FN Meka’s single with Gunna and gaming streamer Cody “Clix” Conrod. The song was simultaneously made available to Clix’s fans through a partnership with Slip.Stream, allowing creators to use the music on YouTube and Twitch without monetization or takedowns.

Universal Production Music formed an exclusive production music joint venture with film composer Harry Gregson-Williams. The new label, dubbed Scored By: Harry Gregson Williams, boasts albums composed by Gregson-Williams and his team and is curated with label partner and fellow composer Tom Howe. The launch will feature mood-based album themes, “all with Gregson-Williams’ signature compositional style and sound,” according to a press release.
East Goes Global, the Los Angeles-based, China-focused marketing team that has worked with artists like The Backstreet Boys, John Legend and Kacey Musgraves, closed their series seed, raising $1 million from investors including FLETCHER, Ingrid Andress, Jessie J, Jessie Reyez and managers Alfredo Tirado, James Dai and Larry Rudolph. With the funds, East Goes Global will build out its SaaS platform and hire more staff.
Livestreaming and fan engagement platform FanTracks Digital acquired jazzed, a multi-tier streaming subscription service for jazz, soul and blues. Following the acquisition, FanTracks will “leverage and enhance the jazzed proprietary technology platform to deliver a deeper app-based experience for selected communities,” starting with rock and jazz and expanding to additional genre verticals, according to a press release. Jazzed will launch globally with the enhanced platform in Q4 2022, with the rock vertical to launch in Q1 2023. The jazzed management and curation team, led by co-founders Jonathan Arendt (CEO), Frank Taubert (CTO) and Marcel Engh (CMO), will join FanTracks’ U.S. operation following the acquisition.
Nettwerk Records signed Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, who was brought to the label by vp of A&R Sameer Sadhu and senior vp A&R and strategy Tom Gates. The singer-songwriter-pianist also signed with C3 Management, where he will be repped by Morgan Young, Adam Smith and Ryan Carignan. Nettwerk released his new single “Stars” on Wednesday (Aug. 17).
Also signing to Nettwerk is Portland-based producer and creative Oatmello, whose latest single, “Community,” was released by the label on Aug. 12 ahead of his full-length album.
Producer/songwriter TwanDaGod (NBA Youngboy, Rylo Rodriguez, JayDaYoungan) signed to Roc Nation. He’s slated to release new music under the Roc Nation label soon.

Sony Music Latin signed 20-year-old Colombian emerging artist, José Domingo Zabaleta Villalobos, a.k.a. Jhosy. A native of Cartagena, Jhosy made waves with his viral hit single, “Aurora.”

The Voice Season 21 finalist Jeremy Rosado signed a record deal with Capitol Christian Music Group. He plans to release new songs later this year.
New Soil, a music company that includes strategy, label and management divisions focused on jazz and its associated genres in the U.K., struck partnerships with three organizations: South African label Mushroom Half Hour, which will jointly release drummer Tumi Mogorosi’s album Group Theory: Black Music; Bridge The Gap, which will jointly release music by three emerging stars in U.K. jazz, Jackson Mathod, Raffy Bushman and James Copus; and Women in Jazz, which will work with New Soil to develop a label offering.
