As he embarks on his solo career, Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard has signed with UTA for representation in all areas. Hubbard will make his solo television debut on NBC’s Today on Tuesday morning (Aug. 30).
Hubbard, who is opening for Keith Urban on his fall tour, is already off to a great start with his solo career, as his single “5 Foot 9” climbs to No. 10 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for the week dated Sept. 3. His EMI Records Nashville EP, Dancin’ In the Country, also debuts at No. 1 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 107 on Billboard 200. Hubbard co-wrote every song on his full-length debut, which will come out Jan. 27. He’s managed by Borman Entertainment.
FGL’s last tour date, at least for now, is slated for Wednesday (Aug. 31) at the Minnesota State Fair in St. Paul. Although they canceled their 2021 I Love My Country fall tour, citing COVID concerns, the band — which is booked by WME — has been a powerhouse on the road over their decade-long run, reporting a gross of $191 million from 3.8 million tickets across 319 headlining shows between 2013 and 2019, according to Billboard Boxscore. (This does not include festival and fair dates).
Though Hubbard and his FLG partner Brian Kelley have never officially announced that they are splitting, both are working on solo music, and Hubbard talked openly about their parting on The Bobby Bones Show in late July.
“We’re not breaking up, we’re just taking a break,” Hubbard told Bones in describing their next chapter. While Hubbard wouldn’t say the split was permanent, it’s clear they’re looking at a long break, as Hubbard told Bones they may reunite in five to 10 years and that they would “probably not” come back together for $1 million to play a wedding at this time.
FGL are the only country act to receive two diamond-certified singles from the Recording Industry Association of America, for the 11 times platinum “Cruise” and the 10 times platinum “Meant to Be.” According to Big Machine Label Group Records, FGL has earned more than 13.2 billion global streams and sold more than 40 million tracks.
