Muse‘s new album Will of the People debuts at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts dated Sept. 10.
In the Aug. 26-Sept. 1 tracking week, People arrived with 24,000 equivalent album units, with 20,000 in album sales, according to Luminate.
The LP marks a return to No. 1 on all three lists for Muse after its predecessor, Simulation Theory, opened and peaked at No. 3 on Top Alternative Albums and No. 4 on both Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums in November 2018.
The English band boasts three rulers on each chart, having previously led with 2015’s Drones and 2009’s The Resistance.
On the all-format Billboard 200, People bows at No. 15. It’s Muse’s sixth top 15 entry on the tally, a run that began with the No. 9-peaking Black Holes and Revelations in 2006.
People was preceded by lead single “Won’t Stand Down,” which topped the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in May and reached No. 3 on Alternative Airplay and Rock & Alternative Airplay in March. The set’s “Compliance” followed, reaching No. 13 on Alternative Airplay and No. 38 on Rock & Alternative Airplay in August.
The LP’s latest single, the title track, hits a new No. 32 high on Mainstream Rock Airplay.
