APG founder Mike Caren and 100 Management founder Luke Mitzman have formed a new management partnership between the two companies that will focus on representing music producers and helping them grow their businesses, it was announced Wednesday (Sept. 20).
Under the partnership, the companies will “take on a small, select roster of clients that balance creative and business skills,” according to a press release.
“Producing records or developing an artist require many of the same skills as building businesses; vision, confidence, buy-in, and execution,” said Caren in a statement. “We are thrilled to support the vision of our clients and be a resource for growth.”
Mitzman added, “Our mission is to expand, build and execute our clients’ potential on their music and beyond. Focusing on a small but exceptional roster means that we can truly lock in with them in a shared vision with symbiotic goals, ambitions and connections. We want to help them produce their businesses, not just their music.”
Clients at launch include Grammy-winning producer Cirkut (born Henry Walter), who has produced hits for Katy Perry (“Dark Horse,” “Roar”), Miley Cyrus (“Wrecking Ball”), Flo Rida (“Good Feeling”) and Maroon 5 & Cardi B (“Girls Like You”), as well as nine songs on The Weeknd‘s Starboy album. He also developed and produced “Sweet But Psycho” singer Ava Max and most recently produced singles including Elton John & Britney Spears‘ “Hold Me Closer,” Lil Nas X‘s “Star Walkin’” and Sam Smith & Kim Petras‘ “Unholy.” Earlier this year, he launched his own publishing company, signing songwriter and producer Connor McDonough (Joji‘s “Glimpse Of Us”).
Also on board as clients are Grammy-winning music producers Tor Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen, who work under the name Stargate and have produced hits for Rihanna (“Diamonds”), Katy Perry (“Firework”), Beyoncé (“Irreplaceable”) and Sam Smith (“Too Good At Goodbyes”). Last year, the duo launched the Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production (LAAMP), a year-long intensive music program for emerging songwriters, artists and producers that features mentoring from Stargate collaborators including Ne-Yo, Charli XCX, Cirkut, Benny Blanco and Justin Tranter.
The roster at launch additionally includes Alex Da Kid, the Grammy and Emmy-winning producer who has written and produced hit singles for Imagine Dragons (“Radioactive” and “Thunder”), Eminem & Rihanna (“Love The Way You Lie,” Dr. Dre (“I Need a Doctor” feat. Eminem and Skylar Grey) and B.o.B. (“Airplanes” feat. Hayley Williams). He was an instrumental force in the rise of Imagine Dragons, who he signed to his record label KIDinaKORNER in 2011 before going on to write and produce the group’s 2012 debut album Night Visions. He recently launched the luxury fashion label _by.ALEXANDER and opened a concept fashion retail experience in Soho, New York City.
