Hip-hop producer ATL Jacob has signed with Republic Records, the label announced today (Sept. 29). The deal includes his record label Wicked Money Family, which he founded in 2019. Various releases from the imprint’s roster of producers, artists and creatives will also be released under the new partnership and distributed through Imperial Distribution.
“My attorney Michael Reinert and my business manager Vernon Brown, they linked me with Monte and Avery [Lipman],” the producer said over the phone. “We ended up having a meeting, I showed them the music [and] they was amazed. They believed in the vision, and it went up from there.”
Born Jacob Canady, ATL Jacob previously served as an in-house producer for Future’s record label Freebandz. The 23-year-old first started working with the fellow Atlanta native when he was a senior in high school and can attribute much of his success to being a part of the rap sensation’s production team. Back in May, Jacob hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 Producers chart thanks to his contributions on Future’s ninth album I Never Liked You which hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Producing for artists like Future, Drake, Kanye West, Kodak Black, Lil Durk, Lil Baby and many more, Jacob’s efforts have earned him recognition as a top producer at this year’s BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, as well as a nomination for producer of the year at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
With Wicked Money Family being a part of the deal, Jacob hopes to produce more hit records for his roster of artists and “build and grow with the family,” he said. So far, the label has a handful of signees including Skrew Davinncci, Marcoo5k, and Slum God. He also hopes to hone in on his own artistry as a rapper, starting with a featured verse on Big 30’s upcoming album Last Man Standing dropping tomorrow (Sept. 30).
“I’m honored to join the Republic family. I’m thankful to Monte, Avery, Glenn [Mendlinger], and Danielle [Price] for the opportunity and believing in me as an artist,” he said. “I look forward to showing the world that ATL Jacob is more than just beats.”
