Lil Nas X released a video addressing the backlash he's received for the Christianity-themed promotion around his new single, 'J Christ,' including a video of him being put on a cross. “I know I messed up really bad this time,” he said in the clip. “And I can act unbothered all I want but it’s definitely taking a mental toll on me.” Nas says his intent was never to offend anyone. “I didn’t mean to mock. This wasn’t a ‘Fu-k you to you people. Fu-k you to the Christians.’ It was not that. It was ‘I’m back like Jesus,'” he said. The rapper also apologized for the TikTok video of him eating communion bread and drinking wine from a chalice while dressed as Jesus. He said it was meant to “lighten the mood.” “I’m not an evil demon guy trying to destroy someone’s values,” he insists. “That’s not me.”
