On Monday (April 14), Judas Priest confirmed the death of their former drummer Les Binks in a statement posted on Instagram. The cause of death was not disclosed, but a funeral notice mentioned that Binks passed away “peacefully at hospital in London.” Binks spent two years drumming with Priest during the late 70s, playing on the fan favorite 1978 album, Stained Class, along with Killing Machine and their celebrated live album, Unleashed in the East. “We are deeply saddened about the passing of Les and send our love to his family, friends, and fans,” Judas Priest wrote. “The acclaimed drumming he provided was first class — demonstrating his unique techniques, flair, style and precision. Thank you Les — your acclaim will live on.” Following his departure from Judas Priest, Binks continued to pursue his musical career with various bands, and even reunited with the heavy metal legends during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
