Basketball season is back, and Drake made sure he was in the building for the Toronto Raptors home opener on Wednesday night (Oct. 21) as Kawhi Leonard made his return to the 6.
Dressed in all-black and bedazzled red cowboy boots (which the team also showed off on its Instagram), the 6 God returned to his usual courtside seat next to Chubbs at Scotiabank Arena. As an official team ambassador for the Raptors, Drizzy received a shout-out on the broadcast and appeared on the jumbotron throughout the game.
With Leonard back in the fold, who won a championship in his lone season with the Raptors in 2019, expectations are higher than the CN Tower for Toronto. Canada’s team got off on the right foot while throttling the Chicago Bulls by a score of 135 to 92.
Leonard, Immanuel Quickley and Scottie Barnes shared the workload while each poured in 23 points to lead the team. R.J. Barrett wasn’t far behind with 20 points.
The Raptors will travel to Washington, D.C., for a matchup with the Wizards on Friday (Oct. 23) in what could be another special year north of the border.
On the music front, Drake is the subject of a new lawsuit that accuses him of “shamelessly” using a songwriter’s demo without compensation for the catchy hook of his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Janice STFU.” The lawsuit was filed by Gregory Korn and Jonathan Steinsapir, and alleges that the ICEMAN smash’s chorus is “literally identical” to Aviel Calev Hirschfield’s demo, which he allegedly sent to Drake’s team in early 2026.
The rapper’s team “unequivocally and completely denied” the allegations in a statement to Billboard, saying in part, “There is not one iota of truth to these accusations.”
“Janice STFU” topped the Hot 100 for a pair of weeks. ICEMAN itself topped the Billboard 200 and served as one-third of his May trifecta of albums alongside MAID OF HONOUR and HABIBTI.
It’s shaping up to be a celebratory weekend for the OVO boss, who turns 40 years old on Saturday (Oct. 24). Drake got a head start hanging with friends and family while dining above the CN Tower on Wednesday night and made The Boy a collage of photos taking him on a journey through his decorated career.
