Fifteen years ago, Calle 13 delivered a game-changing record.
Their eponymous debut album, which scored best urban music album at the 2006 Latin Grammys, is a blend of hip-hop and reggaetón that introduced the world to the head-turning Puerto Rican duo comprised of René Perez Joglar and Eduardo Cabra.
Calle 13 debuted and peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart (dated Dec. 17, 2005). It became their first entry on the chart and their longest-charting title at 70 total weeks.
“Atreve-Te-Te,” included in the eclectic album, became one of Calle 13’s signature songs and it peaked at No. 15 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. Other standout tracks include “Suave,” “Se Vale To-To” and “La Jirafa.”
