Jake Bugg has unveiled a rocking take on Post Malone’s hit single “Circles” via his official YouTube channel.
Strumming an electric guitar, the British musician gives Posty’s soft-rock smash some serious reverb with the help of his backing band. “Seasons change and our love went cold/ Feed the flame ’cause we can’t let it go/ Run away, but we’re running in circles/ Run away, run away/ I dare you to do something/ I’m waiting on you again/ So I don’t take the blame/ Run away, but we’re running in circles/ Run away, run away, run away,” Bugg sings on the propulsive chorus alongside bass, keys and drums.
Featured on Malone’s 2019 studio set Hollywood’s Bleeding, “Circles” reached the summit of the Billboard Hot 100 back in Nov. 2019, earning the rapper his fourth chart-topper and spending 39 weeks inside the top 10. The track is currently up for both record of the year and song of the year at the 2021 Grammys, while Malone is also nominated for album of the year for Hollywood’s Bleeding.
Bugg, meanwhile, dropped a trio of singles over the course of 2020 — “Saviours of the City,” “Rabbit Hole” and “All I Need” — and revealed back in November that he is currently in the midst of writing music for an upcoming documentary on the life of famed Brazilian soccer player (and 2002 World Cup winner) Ronaldinho while in lockdown. The rocker’s last full-length studio set, Hearts That Strain, was released in 2017.
