“1st Time” marks the second time for Bakar atop Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart.
The song jumps 4-1 on the ranking dated Jan. 30, granting the singer-songwriter leaders in his first two visits to the list. “1st Time” follows “Hell N Back,” which became Bakar’s first ruler for two weeks in July 2020.
With No. 1s via his first two charting singles, Bakar becomes the first act to reign with two initial entries on the chart since Lorde, whose “Royals” and “Team” led in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
“1st Time” reached No. 20 on Alternative Airplay (Jan. 16) and hits a new No. 21 high on the latest all-rock-format Rock & Alternative Airplay tally with 2 million audience impressions, according to MRC Data.
The song is currently a standalone single by the London native (born Abubakar Baker Shariff-Farr), who has not yet released a full-length album. His last collection, the EP Will You Be My Yellow?, arrived in 2019.
